The CW has released the official synopsis for The Vampire Diaries: All My Children (EP315). The episode airs Thursday, February 16th. Highlight for spoilers or head over to the Episode Index:
A FLIP OF THE COIN — After starting her day with a startling discovery of Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) latest indiscretion, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is frustrated to find that none of her friends agree with her on how they should react to the Original family’s internal power struggle. Once again caught up in the destiny of the Bennett witches, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Abby (guest star Persia White) find themselves playing a part in a ritual to appease the spirits of nature. When Elijah (guest star Daniel Gillies) gives Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) a dangerous ultimatum that puts Elena in danger, they turn to Alaric (Matt Davis) and Meredith (guest star Torrey Devitto) for help with a plan that leads them to a terrible choice. Candice Accola also stars.
The episode was directed by Pascal Verschooris and written by Evan Bleiweiss & Michael Narducci.

TV Guide has an exclusive on another Gilbert coming to Vampire Diaries – but with a twist: Lindsey Garrett (who you may recognize from the Revenge pilot) will play Samantha Gilbert. In addition to giving a few details on Samantha’s deal, TV Guide also confirms that EP316 will be titled 1912 (flashbacks!) and (presumably) air Thursday, February 23rd.

If you haven’t seen last week’s episode (The Ties That Bind, EP312), then spoiler warnings apply to just about everything these days. This interview with Robert Ri’chard from Hollywood Life is no exception, so read at your own risk. While the actor doesn’t give too many details, he does talk about some things that happened last week, and gives some hints about what might be in store for his character and Bonnie. He also shares a bit about what it’s like to work on the show for the first time.
OK, first impressions — What was it like stepping onto the show as a newbie?
“It was a really well-run set, and at first, I was intimidated by the size of the show. Going onto a show that already has such a big following, every mom, every daughter, everyone I talked to was like, ‘Wow, you’re on a really big show.’ So I just decided I was going to go in and work hard and put out a really good performance. I think I felt more pressure on this than when I guest starred on, like, CSI: Miami.”

You can find Nina Dobrev gracing the cover of NYLON’s February 2012 issue and the mag has included snippets from the feature on their website, as well as outtakes from the cover shoot. Thanks to PopSugar for the peek at the cover!
On doing more films
“I want to become a different person, and that’s what working in film allows. I want to be a punk or a sweetheart or a drug addict! There are so many things to explore… Sometimes they’ll be like, ‘She’s not plain enough.’ Or ‘She’s not edgy enough.’ That frustrates me. I feel like a blank canvas, and I wish people would be a little more open-minded.”
We tweeted a glimpse from our Twitter the other night but be sure to pick up the February 2012 issue of CBS’s Watch! magazine (Matt Czuchry and Archie Panjabi of The Good Wife on the cover) for a nice fold-out feature on Nina entitled The Dobrev Diaries.
And Seventeen has an interview with Nina about how she celebrated her birthday this year, “Vampire Diaries memories,” and what we can expect on the show very soon:
17: Can you tell us about the new episodes at the end of the month?
ND: There’s a ball coming up in Mystic Falls and all the main players are invited. They don’t know what to expect because there’s a lot of tension and being at this party feels like it’s a ticking time bomb. Everyone is on guard waiting for it to go off. There’s drama on and off the dance floor — some of the characters connect, for better or for worse. And the last thing I can say is that there are some pretty pivotal things that are said and cannot be taken back. It will come as a huge surprise for the audience!

Family takes all forms in Mystic Falls, and though the ties that bind these characters to each other are often touted as the most valuable and important force, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t fraught with all kinds of bad ju-ju. In The Ties That Bind, the relationships between family, friends, and romantic interests are tested, tried, and tentatively repaired.

More from the TCA Press Tour! Collider talked to Kevin Williamson about the season, as well as his new show, in this interview. On why the love triangle between Elena and the Salvatores works so well:
“It’s a great love story because everybody loves everybody. No matter how much they hate each other, everybody loves everybody. It’s a perfect three-way, if they would all just come together. If they could all get along, it would be a hot time.”
We . . . would not object. Kevin also discusses his feelings about killing characters and his new pilot, in which it sounds like many characters will be killed.
